Pupin’s WEB3 Challenge – start! First workshop revealed basic WEB3 and blockchain technology skills
Recently held workshop “Pupinov WEB3 Challenge” introduced participants to the basics of the Web3 ecosystem and blockchain technology, with a special emphasis on Ethereum. During the session, a detailed plan for the next five workshops was presented, leading to a hackathon and providing participants the opportunity to acquire necessary skills in decentralized applications, smart contracts, and development tools like Scaffold-ETH. Over 30 students from the Faculty of Organizational Sciences and participants from Romania who joined online attended the workshop.
Introduction to Web3 and Blockchain Technology
The workshop began with a comprehensive overview of the Web3 concept and its significance in the context of decentralized technologies. Participants learned the fundamental differences between the traditional Web2 internet, characterized by centralized structures, and the Web3 vision that seeks to decentralize the internet. This understanding is crucial for the further development and application of technologies that define the future of the internet.
Program Structure: Five Steps to the Web3 Hackathon
This series of workshops consists of five sessions designed to progressively deepen participants’ knowledge of developing decentralized applications on the Ethereum platform. The program offers participants a comprehensive experience, preparing them for the final hackathon where they can apply their acquired knowledge in developing concrete solutions. Each session is carefully designed by partners to the project BudilGudil to enable participants to incrementally improve their skills and prepare for the challenges ahead.
Focus on Ethereum and Smart Contracts
One of the key moments of the workshop was the introduction to Ethereum, the leading platform for decentralized applications. Participants were introduced to smart contracts, which enable automatic execution of transactions and processes without the need for intermediaries. This technology represents the foundation of many innovations in the Web3 world and opens up a wide spectrum of possibilities for creating new business models and services. Understanding smart contracts is of crucial importance for developing secure and efficient decentralized applications.
Scaffold-ETH: Key Tool for Web3 Development
During the session, participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with Scaffold-ETH, a tool that significantly simplifies the development process on Ethereum. Scaffold-ETH provides a comprehensive framework for backend operations using tools like Hardhat or Foundry, as well as frontend interactions using React. This tool enables easy and efficient creation of decentralized applications, thereby accelerating the development process and reducing work complexity.
Practical Tasks and Homework
The workshop concluded with the assignment of tasks that enable participants to further engage in learning. Participants were given the opportunity to explore Solidity, program their own applications, and gain practical experience using Scaffold-ETH. Tasks included challenges such as creating NFTs and token contracts, providing participants insight into real-world applications of blockchain technology and Web3 development. These tasks are designed to empower participants and prepare them for further steps in learning and professional development.
The “Pupinov WEB3 Challenge” Workshop was a key point for all present, opening doors to a deeper understanding of the Web3 world and providing basic tools for further professional development in blockchain technology. Participants left the workshop with new knowledge and skills that will help them successfully engage in the Web3 industry, develop innovative projects, and contribute to the development of the region’s information ecosystem.
