Serbian Teams Impressed – Powered by Cirkuliranje and FON

Serbian Teams Impressed – Powered by Cirkuliranje and FON. A true regional breakthrough — energy, talent, and results to remember in Timișoara.

This year’s UniHack 2025 in Timișoara brought incredible energy, outstanding projects, and a remarkably strong performance from the teams representing Serbia. Over the four days of the hackathon, it became clear how far young people can go when they receive support, motivation, and a community that believes in them.

Work mode on!

CSO Cirkuliranje, as one of the partners of Liga AC, working alongside the Faculty of Organizational Sciences (FON) and in collaboration with student organizations from Serbia, foremost FONIS – organizers of FON hackathon participated in this event with full dedication and a clear mission to build a strong bridge between Timișoara and Belgrade.

We have also received support for our activities from the Politehnica University and the Faculty of Automation and Computers, whose students are also members of Liga AC.

Introduction – partnerships, connections, and the beginning of a larger story

The first day of this year’s UniHack was dedicated to networking, introductions, and building connections. Our teams had the opportunity to meet the full Liga AC organizing team behind UniHack, as well as many students from Timișoara and the broader region.

Students from the esteemed  Faculty of Electrical Engineering (ETF) from Belgrade were also present — all members of the newly formed student organization “Proton”, which is steadily becoming a serious source of technical talent.

This introductory day clearly showed that the combined energy of two cities can create an atmosphere that inspires and motivates — something that became even more evident throughout the hackathon.

Work Phase – a strong start and the blockchain technical challenge

The first “real” working day brought brainstorming sessions, mentor rounds, and the first lines of code.

A special highlight was the Blockchain Technical Challenge workshop delivered by Kevin Jones (BuildGuild). The workshop provided a structured introduction to the Web3 technical challenge and gave students important guidelines on how to shape their solutions.

By Saturday, all teams were working at full speed.

With Cirkuliranje as a partner of Liga AC and FON as the academic lead of the blockchain segment, strong technical and mentor support was provided by Aleksandar Joksimović (FON), who served as:

Additionally, Aleksandar was himself a participant in the WEB3 Hackathon held this year at FON in partnership with Cirkuliranje. The previous announcement of the competition can be read HERE.

Erasmus+ Digital Challenge participants

Additional excitement came from the high-school students who took part in the Digital Challenge 2025 in Timișoara, where Cirkuliranje is the lead organization in the Digital Challenge project within the Erasmus+ program.

Their transition from an educational program directly into a competition, working side by side with university teams, is proof of how quickly young people advance when given the right opportunity and support.

ETF Belgrade – “Proton” and the continuity of the Pupin Challenge

Two teams of students from the School of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade competed under the student organization “Proton.”

Some of these students have been with us since the third year of their high school through the Pupin Challenge — now they are serious ETF students, team leaders, and a testament to how consistent work shapes exceptional talent.

Final Day – Sunday, November 16: the final round and major victories

The fourth day brought the biggest excitement.
Despite the intense pace, all teams demonstrated exceptional focus and energy in the final presentations.

In one of the strongest competitive environments so far, the winner of the 1st place in the Blockchain Technical Challenge track was a team from Serbia:

🏆 Abelian Group – “Civisight”

(1st place – Blockchain Technical Challenge)

This result is a tremendous success and a strong push for the development of the blockchain ecosystem in the region.

The recognition was presented by Vladislav Petković, Coordiinator and founder of CSO Cirkuliranje and co-organizer of the blockchain segment of UniHack together with FON and Liga AC.

The team will also receive an official certificate and prize for winning this track.

Combined with two FON teams in the TOP 5 and strong performances from the ETF / Proton teams, this marks one of the very successful years for Serbian teams at international IT competitions.

Conclusion – strong energy, a bright future

UniHack 2025 showed what happens when the following come together:

  • dedicated organizers (Liga AC)
  • committed partners (Cirkuliranje & FON)
  • ambitious students
  • long-term educational programs (Pupin Challenge & Digital Challenge)
  • cities that want to collaborate

One excellent photo for conclusion of this wonderful experience!

This is not just a hackathon.
This is the beginning of a broader, stronger regional tech story.

If 2025 looked like this — 2026 will be even better.
