Digital Challenge Project Officially Kicks Off. First Activity of the Erasmus+ Project “Digital Challenge” Successfully Held in Belgrade: A Strong Start Marked by Collaboration, Innovation, and Student Excellence

The first official activity of the Erasmus+ project Digital Challenge (2024-2-RS01-KA210-SCH-000271542) took place in Belgrade from April 11 to 12, 2025, hosted by the Mathematical Grammar School. As the project’s kickoff meeting, it marked a significant step forward in strengthening international collaboration around digital education, mentorship, and youth innovation.

The meeting was opened by school principal Mirjana Katić and brought together representatives of all partner institutions:

  • Civil society union  “Cirkuliranje” (Vršac, Serbia): Vladislav Petković (project coordinator)
  • Liceul Teoretic “Grigore Moisil” (Timișoara, Romania): Silca Ivascu-Ilici, Oana Suzana Marinescu
  • Asociatia One Source NGO (Timișoara, Romania): Radu Ticiu
  • Regional Talent Centre “Mihajlo Pupin” (Pančevo, Serbia): Dragoljub Cucić, Milan Surla, Slobodan Tršek
  • Mathematical Grammar School (Belgrade, Serbia): Tamara Đorić Šparović, Jovica Milisavljević, Aleksandar Glavnik

During the highly productive working sessions, Vladislav Petković led the project presentation, demonstrating a deep understanding of the partners’ needs and the challenges set within the project framework. His guidance ensured that this strategic segment of the meeting was both successful and well-aligned with the goals of all participants. The team also selected the official project logo and initiated several strategic plans for broader outreach and impact—including the organization of a summer camp in Idvor, dedicated to digital mentoring and innovation.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the presentation by students from the Mathematical Grammar School—Mihailo Aleksić, Uroš Aleksić, Marko Dugandžić, and Đorđe Vasić—who introduced their work developed within the school’s Applied Physics and Electronics (PFE) Section. Their confident delivery and depth of knowledge reflected the strong extracurricular framework of the school, the ongoing support of the PFE section, and their engagement in the Pupin’s Challenge initiative. Their performance was widely recognized as a great example of how structured mentorship and hands-on learning can empower young innovators.

Local coordinator Jovica Milisavljević gave participants a detailed tour of the school’s facilities, including the computer labs and the greenhouse, which was developed as part of a separate Erasmus+ project recently concluded, led by the Mathematical Grammar School.

The official program was enriched by several informal activities that fostered networking and mutual understanding. A group visit to the Palace of Science (Palata Nauke) was among the highlights of the social agenda, and a larger visit involving student participants is now in the planning stage.

The second working day was dedicated to finalizing action plans, implementation tasks, and culminated in the official awarding of certificates for participation in this first activity.

Key Outcomes

The meeting confirmed and validated the main objectives of the project, while also establishing a realistic and well-structured agenda for their implementation. The expected intellectual outputs and dissemination activities were aligned across partner institutions, ensuring a coherent and collaborative approach moving forward.
